Riga piimatanker

And now for something completely different: a hand-made tanker bike from Estonia!
Yes, this really is a tanker bike – a bike for the transportation of liquids. An Estonian farmer built this bike during the Soviet occupation after the II world war. Private farms were forbidden by communists and many farm-owners were arrested, but everyone who wasn`t sent to Siberia was allowed to keep one or two cows.  There was severe food shortage in Soviet Union and that`s why state had to buy milk from private cow-owners. To transport milk from home to the collecting-point, our farmer built this tanker from the regular Riga bicycle (made in Latvia under the Soviet occupation). So this milk-tanker helped one family to survive during very hard times.
